Just IN ... This Extraordinary Iron Antique Full Size Bed. It is such a lovely greenish gray color and ornate with both the head board and foot board beeing a nice height. I just happen to find these iron vintage scroll pieces in the exact same color to compliment. We attached some to the top of the head board and added them to the column for interest. They don't get much better than this!

A Rare Opportunity is Available here at Bloom & Bee Swanky. Help is needed for full time sales manager. Some Weekends are a must! A few times a year for special sales and events, late evenings may be required.

Your number one job is helping to maximize the store’s profit while minimizing costs. Retail Experience and customer service skills are minimum requirements. Computer Literacy is a must, NO Exceptions. You need to be able to take and format digital photographs. You must be able to excel at Internet researching! Experience is necessary with cash registers and POS systems.

Daily Tasks will include scheduling, managing the other employees to increase sales and increase efficiency, maintaining the highest level of customer service at all times, getting to know customers by name and maintaining customer database, keeping the store always displayed properly when items sell, protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment, checking in orders and maintaining inventory stock levels, purchasing items from walk-ins, taking phone messages, opening and closing store, balancing drawer, preparing deposits and basically being the liaison to the owner in any and all aspects by providing daily reports.

Of course there will be the occasional shop duties when other sale associates cannot be present or when other duties are complete. They include, but are not limited to sweeping/vacuuming, window washing, watering plants, changing light bulbs, cleaning restrooms, trash, painting and other things that a store just simply needs to operate. Also, the position will require the ability to occasionally climb ladders as well as assist in moving and rearrange heavy furniture within the store.

Another continuous duty, will be helping the owner to stay organized. She is very busy with multiple projects and appointments and needs help keeping the checkout area and storage areas neat and organized. This task will fall all on you to find creative ways to do this.

If you like to write, and are good at it, this position could fit you nicely. Experience writing press releases will be very helpful. If you are creative and have graphic design experience, this could be great opportunity for you as well. This position allows the right person to design and develop blog entries, newsletters, and brochures, print ads, in-store signage, postcards, and more ensuring that standards are observed with all marketing materials. Initiating and maintaining a complete and accurate database will be a continuous duty as well as packaging and shipping of Internet orders.

This position requires someone who truly enjoys a creative environment, varied duties and is a self-starter. This position requires confidence, tact, the ability to handle multi-tasking, following up projects, phone calls and customer’s requests are essential. You must be a quick learner and a SMILER which means you should be Happy! This position will require you to have daily interaction with customers. This will require a neat and orderly appearance as well as a pleasant disposition and attitude.

Although the shop is small and fun, we have goals, standards, and ambitions. Please don’t let the size of the business be an indicator of its ambitions. We expect to grow and would like the right person to STAY and grow with us. Hopefully, that will be YOU!

I was found Tuesday evening at dusk near Lake Shore and Steinbeck in Waco. I am such a sweet boy and obviously my owners are missing me very much. I recently had a hair cut and am wearing a collar. I listen and do as I am told and don't potty in the house. I love to greet people and really love playing with other dogs and cats. I am pretty laid back and very easy to take care of. Items of the week - Two for one

Since I have been soooo busy lately and not at the shop much working on Estate Sales, You are getting Two for One - Items of the week!

I wanted to first say thank-you for everybody who came to visit us during the Hillsboro Antique Show. It was one of the best shows I have ever done! For the first two hours Becky and I never stopped writing tickets. We were almost wiped out. I sold every single piece of furniture I took. For those of you who came later in the day - our booth was pretty pitiful. All of the other dealers were super nice and I look forward to doing it again next time.

We love selling vintage lockers. This week we have two separate styles both on sale for less than $100 each. We have the white one at the foot of a bed and they make such unique storage containers for almost anything.

I found this old Iron table base the perfect shade of aqua rusty blue. I didn't have to due a thing to it. I love when that happens. Matt inserted a wood top made from reclaimed wood and voila ~! I'll have a hard time letting this one go.

Praising God at Billy Bob's? - A Glorious Weekend Review

As promised, here is how we spent our anniversary weekend in Fort Worth. I tend not to share much personal information on this blog and try to keep it all business, so I am reaching out of my comfort zone because so many of you ask to see more posting about me. Not much to tell, but here goes a try...

We planned our weekend around this!

I have been a huge fan of Josh Turner for the last several years. When I found out a few months ago he was going to bee in Texas on our anniversary - well there was no other choice to what we would bee doing to celebrate.

It was pitch black dark and I couldn't see the settings on my camera, plus I was way too busy jumping around to take too many good photos anyway. So many of Josh's songs have such a deep personal meaning to us. Music is a huge part of my life. Did you know I started out studying music first in college? Anyway, there is no other artist that comes close to Josh in my book. Having South Carolina Roots in my family, I grew up listening to blue grass and old country music. Josh captures all those feelings yet while remaining completely modern. I can listen to his music over and over again and NEVER get tired of it. Have you ever heard songs that leave you with lump in the bottom of your throat and inspires you to do better in Love? Well, that is exactly how he leaves me feeling.

He is such an honorable family man too and a true role model. You can tell how appreciative he is of his family and his love for the Lord, by reading the credits on any of his albums. Here he is on stage with his wife Jennifer, who plays with him and does background vocals. At the end of the show he introduced her as his best friend.

I was blessed with an opportunity to meet him backstage. So very few got passes, so I was lucky. Here I am with Josh, flat hair (no hair product - I left it all at home) greasy face and all - the real me! Look at that smile. I swear the man doesn't take a bad picture. I also learned that we are exactly the same age with our birthdays only a few weeks apart.

I had never been to Billy Bob's Texas before and had no idea what to expect! It is known as the world's largest honky tonk! To me it is a typical Texas Bar - but huge on steroids with indoor bull riding and more. Are you questioning the title of this post? Imagine being under the smokey neon lights raising your hands and listening to a thousand or more people singing to God in unison. Josh sang Me and God, Jesus is the Answer and Long Black Train to name a few and it was an awesome, chill raising experience to be praising in such a venue!

Here we are after the show with his bus in the background. I'm holding my autographed picture and YES, I suppose I have become officially one of "THOSE" people. Matt was such a good sport about the whole thing putting up with my silliness!

Garry and Jeannie, my sister and brother -in law, celebrated with us and afterwards we took a late night stroll around the historic Fort Worth Stock Yards together.

We started out the day sending prayers to Shop Girl Amy J. as she ran the Bearathon, her first 13 mile half marathon. She has been training so hard for this and we are so proud of her of achievement! I need her in my life as she is such a silent witness inspiring me to bee more healthy.

We then headed up to Hico to Homestead which has seem to have become an anniversary tradition now for us. We have been doing that for years before we ever knew who Mike and Brenda were. Now we have become such good friends and are more blessed to know them.

I purchased this Victorian pansy print which has an antique man's portrait on the back to add to my pansy wall collection and look at what she gave me as a Generous anniversary gift. Edwardian compotes that go with my plates with BEES on them. I have never seen this pattern before and it is not marked. If anyone knows what it is, please let me know as I would love to add to my collection. We then headed to Stephenville which is where we first met and fell in Love!

We ate dinner here, Lounge Style, at the Fort Worth Blue Sushi Sake Grill. We were able to snuggle on leather sofa with full service and it was quite romantic and super delicious. I loved finally sharing good sushi with Matt. I also got to try some very good varieties of sakes. This is my new favorite restaurant. Why or Why can't Waco have something like this?

One of my customers told me about this event. This show only featured local Etsy Fort Worth Crafters and I was able to find two artists I love whose work will soon bee featured at Bee Swanky.

Right next to the Etsy Bazaar, a Flea Market was going on. Well you know me, we had to go. I don't know why I didn't know about this before, but it happens every weekend. It is is one of the animal barns and is FREE. I found a nice gathering of things including an 1800's bisque Rechnagel doll, a tooled beautiful 1930's leather purse, brown tranfserware plates, strings of vintage glass pearls, and so much more which is all now for sale at Bloom & Bee Swanky.

Another interesting fact about me is I have a fascination about tornadoes. I have seen every tornado movie at least twice and I love watching storm stores and reading tornado novels. This movie was spectacular watching on the Imax dome which was all around you. I highly recommend it.

On our way home we spent some time in a Woodcraft store. I had to let Matt indulge a bit since he spoiled me rotten this weekend. He found some things he couldn't live without. Thank goodness there isn't one of these in Waco. However, his purchases allow him to make this...

As soon as we got home, Bailey and I enjoyed visiting our new backyard neighbors while Matt put the finishing touches on this beauty.

We finished off our weekend delivering this table (made from the wood reclaimed out of the Waco Trib Building) and chairs to a family whom I hope make many memories with it for years to come.

12 Years Ago ...

Twelve years ago today, on the first day of Spring, I became this man’s wife.

I dislike celebrating my birthdays, but I loooove celebrating our anniversaries. This year we decided not to buy each other gifts, but to spend a weekend out together just being “US” for the first time in a long time. We had a wonderful weekend in Forth Worth (more on that later), but looking back on our time together through our reminiscent conversations, I realized I first loved him for all the wrong reasons.

Matt, this quote says all…

“I was so young, lost, scared, alone and confused... desperate to find my place in this world.
But we found it ... together ... in our saviors arms. It hasn't always been easy as the Lord has pruned us, changed us and taught us His ways.”

Thank-you for beeing my husband and thank-you for your true unconditional love you give me every day. I look forward to our next year of marriage as I honestly seem to love your more each day! Thank for you beeing the man that leads us in prayer together to our father as he brings us closer together with OUR family!

My Favorite Hobby in the entire world is looking at houses. It doesn't matter in what form either through Magazines, home tours, simple drive by's, I do it as often as I can. I came across this home on the Simply - Chateau Blog a few weeks ago and can't stop thinking about it. Located in the French Countryside on a Charming Farm, it is so enchanting that it makes me want to plan a vacation there and hunt it down to see it in person. It is so romantic with a sad story that you can read about here on her blog. I had an actual dream about this home this very Valentine Morning and thought maybe some of you would appreciate seeing it as well.

I know I have mentioned this many times before, but I have an incredibly talented husband who loves to build things for our store. We were blessed to get our hands on the wood that came out of the 100+ year old building that used to house the Waco Tribune Herald newspaper in Waco at 6th and Franklin. The building was recently demolished to become the new Franklin Place which we are very excited about as well. This wood is the best we have ever seen. It is super heavy, thick, extremely beautiful, 20 foot and longer boards of old long leaf pine. We can make almost anything out of it for your home. All the tables in the shop made of this wood have already sold and we have received multiple orders. If you are interested, order now as supplies are dwindling, but we always have a stash of reclaimed wood ready to make any furnishings you desire.

A Merry Christmas Thank You to you ALL!

This year's Holiday Preview Party had the biggest turn out ever. I was in awe of all of you, many of whom traveled long distances to begin the holidays with us while we celebrated five years in business.

We gave out gifts to the first 100 customers through the door and some were in line nearly an hour before we opened. Jackie handed out every one of them in the first few minutes we were open.

Not only did we set out our holiday decor, but we did a complete rearrange of the whole store including moving our check out area and new paint on the walls. It was a bit of a huge undertaking, but you know me ... I always feel we can do it all. With the help of my phenomenal staff who worked with me side by side for three solid days, we nearly accomplished it. The following week we continued putting out new Christmas every single day and new gift items are going out every day still through Christmas.

Amy J insisted that I enjoy myself and visit with you all and would not let me work behind the counter in spite of the long lines. Every year we have done this, it is like a fog the next day and I can't remember it. Just like a bride with all the planning and then hardly remembers the wedding. This time I savored every moment and am so thankful and blessed for each of you.

My favorite item of the season - this wonderful star burst mirror Matt made from old fence pickets. These lights will bee seen at the new Vitek's restaurant dining area along with many other wonderful antique items I can't wait to share with you!

I didn't get my camera out at all that night and relied on other's photos. A special thanks to Anne Story for helping me with photos, Kim at Bloomingals for the prettiest floral arrangements we have ever seen, (She nailed the shop's personality perfectly and we highly recommend her) Steven for the wonderful live music, Rebekah Trimble for the fabulous food, all the shop girls for never complaining and doing what needed to get done, and my wonderful husband Matt for staying up with me into the wee hours for many nights helping and supporting me. Without you - there would bee no Bee Swanky!

I can't believe we are celebrating 5 full years in business! We are working very long days and late hours to get it all finished for you. Remember we are now closed, Tuesday and will not reopen until Thursday the 11th at 5:30 pm.

Below is Amy J. working with me late again at night. This awning was custom made for the outside of our first location. I have truly outgrown the pink and white stripes. Looking around the store now, you don't see any pink. I couldn't stand to leave it behind so it has proudly hung over our check out area. The next time you see it, it will bee covered up with burlap and vintage laces and will bee over our new boutique area as our check out area will now bee in the center of the store. Here I am painting the front section of our store. As much as I have Loooved this chocolate brown wall, after 3 years it was time for a change. With the help of Shelly Miller, of Finishing Touch Designs, it now looks like old sheet metal and I love the way it turned out and sparkles in the light. You will just have to come Thursday and see for yourself.

Hico Show Review and a few New things in store...

Lots of Photos ~ As promised here are a few photos from the Homestead Antique Show and a few new things in store too.

As you know, our store has very little color, but this time we went with purples. It must have been HIS plan because it all just fell into place and not something I wold have normally done. We have brought some of it back into the store and I have to say, accented with grays, I am loving it!

The highlight of the booth was this paper dress made entirely out of phone book pages from now the infamous shop girl Amy J. I saw one awhile back on the KAZA blog but she did not. I sent her home with a mannequin, some pins, a phone book and no other direction and this is what she brought back. It is hard to see all the details in the photo. I sold her to another dealer at the show, but never fear, we will have another one at our upcoming Holiday Open House.

This giant antique secretary stands nearly 9 feet tall. If it would fit into my house it would bee mine. I love all the display opportunity and it comes with even extra shelves.

We found a pair of these antique upholstered purple chairs with older fabric and then this yummy purple bedding arrived that Amy J. picked out at Atlanta Market for me when I was ill last time. I then found this giant antique purple transferware bowl, a peddler came in with the most beautiful purple glass, Kim at Bloomingals gave us tons of pretty dried purple hydrangeas and at Laverty's I found some older house blue prints - which are all actually purple and I made decoupaged walls out of them for the back of our booth. Whew, that's a long sentence! Like I said it all just fell into place.

Who needs a dust ruffle if you have a collection of attractive old books?

Ms. Reba brought me in what looks like old metal chicken feeders, but they are actually the insides of old fire extinguishers, and I knew exactly what I wanted to make out of them as soon as I saw them- pendant lights!
This old HEAAVVY iron bed was nothing much more than a pile of rust until I got my hands on it.

Sadly, I can never remember to take out my camera at shows as I am too busy thinking about set up. These photos were taken after many items had already sold, including some antique items that Jewel, yes the singer, purchased! We play her music in the shop, including the Lullaby CD we sell - and I couldn't believe it.

I love this simply painted, nothing fancy about it grey chest, so much that I am now rethinking everything in my home.

Homestead Antique Show in Hico

We are heading to Hico next week again to set up for this wonderful show! I have to admit, this is my most favorite show I have ever done. They have expanded this year and have added even more of the most fabulous dealers you won't want to miss. Come out and see us. We will bee set up in the big circus tent adjacent to the Homestead Store (located in the Historic Opera House at 100 N. Elm) in the first booth to the right as you enter the through the far right entrance. We are taking a new color palette this time with purples and grays and I can't wait to see how it all comes together! There is so much to see this weekend you really can make a whole day of it. Patina Green

A few weeks ago while attending the Dallas Market, I decided to spend an extra day because I found out that Patina Green was having their Grand Opening Celebration the following day. I am sure glad I did. I have never done an entire post on another store before, but I had to share this gem of a shopping and dining experience with you. Kaci and Luann have been customers of mine and I knew I loved their style. When I walked into their store, it was like a dream unfolding before my very awake eyes.

My senses were immediately on overload. No attention to detail was left undone. From the sound of finches peeping in the background, to the smells of the kitchen, the tastes of chocolates samples, the complexity of all the sights so perfectly melanged together and the textures awaiting to bee touched. It was all there. I leave you with only a few photos, but this by far is my favorite must see shop in Texas!

I have to admit, the Toilette was definitely a highlight of the tour. You will have to go and see for yourself and please tell them Bee Swanky sent ya.

We will bee there again and I look forward to seeing all the friends I made last time and making many more new ones. This show promises to bee even better than last fall with 30 handpicked dealers not to mention all the other great shops in town. You will want to make a day of it! We will be the first booth to the right as you enter the tent from the street side in the gated courtyard right next to the Homestead Store on Elm Street in Downtown Hico, Texas. You will find lots of lace, feminine vintage pretties all mixed with industrial shades of white and grey.

My First Photos From Haiti

I won't bee posting anymore the rest of the week. I just got back and am truly exhausted - an emotional exhaustion like I've never experienced. We have the Spring Open House this Friday and Saturday and there is so much to do and only 3 days to get it done.

There are hundreds of photos to sort through and we were blessed to have Karl join us, an experienced photographer from Texas Tech and I can't wait to share with you his photos as well. We never made it into the heavily destroyed areas due to security but rather focused our trip on the border towns and the orphanages, shelters and a hospital for the injured in the Dominican Republic. Words cannot describe the living conditions and I am ashamed that it took a natural disaster for me to understand it. I am truly thankful to Rotary for allowing me this opportunity to deliver wheelchairs with the International Wheelchair Foundation and the HHS Foundation. There will bee many more blogs about this truly Life Changing Experience but for now I leave with a few "happy" quick snap shots. I will bee out of town until just before our Open House. I have been Blessed with the opportunity to travel with members of Rotary International to Deliver wheelchairs to HAITI. Our Downtown Waco LAKE BRAZOS ROTARY CLUB helped raised money for The Wheelchair Foundation and I can't wait to share with you this hopefully Life Changing Event. I will bee doing several posts on this trip upon my return.

Becky and Beverly are having an estate sale this weekend (FRI-SAT) at 1124 Wedgewood right off Bosque in the Woodway Suburb of Waco. They have a complete household of contents including a nice collection of vintage photography equipment, Waco Memorabilia including Gildersleeve Photos of Historic Waco, Vintage Train Items and so much More...

We are conducting one Slated for April 29-30 (Thursday-Friday) in Hewitt. Photos and details will post here soon.

Here are a few shots of what's new this week. Our stock room is overflowing with goodies just waiting for their premier at the open house. For a teaser, I can't wait for you to see the giant vintage water fountain - that is all I can say about that for now. You will just have to come and see for yourself.

After you finish shopping the open house, you will have to stop by in the afternoon for a visit to Barnet's Pub right around the corner. As Promised, we will have that photo review of them soon.

On another upcoming post, I will share with you some of the most beautiful landscape that the Waco area has to offer on "MY DRIVE IN". You really won't believe how blessed I feel to live here and commute into Downtown Waco, Texas everyday until you see these photos for yourself - so please check back.

I STILL also have to update you on our Secret Bee Lady and the Holiday Jr. League Photos. They were on a computer that crashed and they are now finally on the way.

She is truly one of the most creative and talented young women I know and I know she will make a big impact on the Interior Design World. Of course, it is the dream of the Shop Owner to find a way to keep her at Bloom & Bee Swanky forever.

Here she is at Marbuger (Matt in the mirror). It was so refreshing to take her and experience this fabulous Antique Show though her young modern eyes for the first time! She has had a rough go of it with me. First, I take her to Atlanta Market and end up at the hospital, and this time she had to bee patient with me as I hobbled around on a broken foot. I don't share too much personal information here, but the Bloom & Bee Swanky family got hit hard twice today and we need your prayers. Debi's two year old gorgeous grand-daughter Shannon was terribly burned today by scalding grease. I don't know much yet, but it was severe enough for her to bee flown to Parkland Burn Center in Dallas. All I can say is Pray!

After working 4 hours on her feet at the shop today Bev and I demanded that Becky go and see a doctor. She was out of breath and just didn't look well. The doctor sent her to the hospital with Congestive Heart Failure. Matt and I are on our way to bee with her now. Please Pray!

I will keep you posted and believe where there are 2 or more are gathered... Please pass this on to everyone you know and we truly appreciate and NEED your prayers tonight!

UPDATE:
God is SO Good! Shannon suffers from second and third degree burns but is going to bee OK! Only a few drops got on her face. Most of the damage was to her ear, shoulder and the top of her foot.

Becky is home and recovering. They both have a long recovery ahead of them and many more treatments. Now I ask that you pray for a painless and complete recovery! I am in awe at the amount of e-mails from all of you concerned and know that they are both doing well do the power of your prayers! Thank-you!

As you know, we rarely offer discounts as our prices offered are very fair and we have so many one-of-a-kind finds that never last long - so these are crazy low prices. I had the pleasure of taking Shop Girl Amy J. with me to Atlanta for a few days. I am so glad I did though she may feel otherwise. The day after we arrived I came down with something terrible. You know that kind of sickness that hits you in the face suddenly out of nowhere leaving you non functioning. It landed me in the hospital during an historic ice storm in downtown and I honestly don't know what I would have done without her. As an interior design major she was so looking forward to her first trip to market and even though she didn't get to see much of it she never complained, not once! I have the best staff and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Wow - That feels so freeing just typing that. I hope you are all out to a great start of the year. Don't you just love how the feeling of a new year represents a clean slate? We are going to bee completely revamping and bringing in tons of new merchandise for Spring over the next few weeks and I will try to keep you posted here. Holidays on 5th Street

This past weekend Bloom & Bee Swanky Participated in the first Holiday on the Avenues in Downtown Waco. Fun was held by all during our late night shopping event.

While our customers shopped, we were blessed with the sounds of Steve Gereghty with his bluesy, jazzy versions of holiday favorites. I hope to have him play again one day. If you didn't come, you really missed it as he made the shop so alive and awesome in Christian Spirit.

Our Artist in Residence, Pam Gray, had Paintings displayed all over the shop. I love this collection of them showing on an old bed spring.

The Swanky girls finished off the weekend on Sunday with delicious coffee and deserts at one of my favorite Downtown Waco Spots, Se Cocina, located just around the corner from our shop. Here are Beverly and Becky best of friends for more than 25 years and never found without smiles on their faces. They are truly as close as two peas in a pod as you can get. Becky gave me the cutest 1950's Nun Doll to display in my home with my old family bibles.

This Saturday, Dec. 12th, Downtown Waco will bee celebrating Christmas on the Avenues. We will bee open until 8 pm for late night shopping. Please come view the Artistic Expressions of our Artist Resident Pam Gray. Enjoy "Sips and Nibbles" while you shop with live music from Steve Gereghty from 6-8 pm.

All the above locations will bee open late so please come see all the Great things Downtown Waco has to offer. You can even ride a horse drawn carriage from location to location provided by Storybook Carriages.

Snow is a very rare EVENT here in Central Texas. I can count on one hand how many times I have seen it in my lifetime. I couldn't believe my eyes when fat fluffy snowflakes fell from the heavens this week. It lasted less than 30 minutes and didn't stick, but I did manage to sneak this photo.

This past Thursday, Bev and I headed WAY WAY down the road for a junking trip. We are still putting out all of our great finds. I finally made it to Winnie and Tulula's in Athens and scored this fab - YES buzzard wings from my dear Friend Theresa. If you are in the area, you must make it a point to go by and see this shop. Her window display will bee up the rest of the month and it is breathtaking.

I found these wonderful wreaths made from old springs great for holding cards and old photos as well as this perfectly shabby old mirror. - Both SOLD

We just put out our new arrival of scarves and nearly sold out by end of day Saturday. It had already been picked over before I had the chance to snap this photo. Thank-you Waco. Never fear - more are on the way.

I have been wanting to play catch up with you all for awhile now . Rather than one extra long post I will leave you with bits of where the heck I have been and what I am up to. I want this blog to not only bee about the shop and my love for Downtown Waco but to also leave a personal note now and then that hopefully you might find interesting.

Matt and I had the wonderful opportunity to Volunteer on a Habitat for Humanity House with our small group from Journey Christan Community. If you ever have the chance to do this, I highly recommend it. We are already talking about doing it again soon.

It was fun and really educational and easy. Don't worry, no skills are necessary just a heart and a desire to work. Here are Becky and Dod installing insulation in a bathroom.

I hope you all had a Blessed Thanksgiving. Matt and I were so blessed and we spent the day volunteering at the Salvation Army. I wanted to do something - anything that would bring a blessing to someone else. I made these flower arrangements to take to decorate the tables. I have NEVER arranged flowers before and did it quite inexpensively.

Kim at Blooming Gals generously donated a bucket full of dozens of beautiful yellow roses. She also provides us with all the gorgeous flowers you see here at the shop each week. I initially was just going to hand them out but decided to take it to the next level. For less than $25 I was able to make 19 arrangements. I purchased a few Gerbera daises and cups from our local grocery and everything else I cut from our yard and we don't even have a garden. It is amazing what you can do with a little greenery, grasses and imagination. The reason I am telling you this is because at one point I ended up sitting next to a precious child whose name happened to bee Daisy. She was shy and apprehensive due to uncontrollable circumstances. Those Daisies were the ice breaker to a new friendship with not only her but her entire family. As usual, I am late getting out all the details of the last few weeks. Check back often as the next several entries I will bee playing catch up including all the photos from our Shows and our Holiday Open House Preview Party.

I wanted to Thank each and every one of you who came out Thursday Night and all weekend long. Words cannot describe how in awe I was of your attendance. I had free gifts for the first 100 customers through the door. That is Beverly handing out tickets to redeem as the line out front before we opened was piling up. I thought surely that would bee enough. At last count we had 240+ ~ WOW!

I have done three big events back to back with a few other exciting Waco events to share and whew... In the meantime a couple of my dear customers Jessica and Theresa posted some photos of our booth at the Jr. League on their blogs. Please check them out if you can't wait. Thanks girls. I had another customer inform me they saw me on sugarmoonantheawake as I never even saw her get out a camera. I had the pleasure of visiting with them both over the weekend. I scored some great items from Theresa's junking trip which will all bee available for sale at the Open House and finally got to visit Jessica's home. It was breath taking and even better than I had dreamed. She will be moving soon and I will post photos of it before she leaves of how she had used all the unexpected finds she has purchased from Bloom & Bee Swanky in the most imaginable way. I was not on my game with photo taking. By the time I even remembered to get my camera out the booth had already been picked over. I am not a photographer and when ever Gina is not by my side you won't get quality photos. However, as promised here are a few shots of our booth. Wonderful old galvanized bathtub with oak trim and Pig hoofed feet

At the entrance, we placed a branch in the center of an old patio table (where the umbrella would go) and simply hung "glittery" snowflakes and ferns all over it. It sparkled brilliantly in the sunlight.

I didn't get to photograph all of our new bedding. Please stop by the store to see what we have gotten in NEW! It never displays properly as our bedding is queen on Antique Full Size Beds.

Did you know that we custom make tables and other furniture out of reclaimed wood? We made both of these shown stacked here.

We piled up a gathering of old ironstone, pattern flowers, silver plate, old ledger books, sheet music, etc. in these over-sized large vintage chicken feeders on legs and sold every one of them. Who Knew?

I wanted to Thank our gracious hosts Mike and Brenda James of Homestead who made this event super spectacular. I also enjoyed each and every other vendor and made some great new friends. A few new vintage chandeliers, this one being all original. Check out those swans. The larger of the two is a vintage TV light but would make a beautiful nightlight.

We got in a HUGE and I mean HUGE assortment of vintage ties and scarves for you to shuffle through. At only $1.50 each you can purchase one for everyday of the week. I love seeing how all the girls are wearing these NOW and these wonderful vintage 1940's wing tip, sling back pumps are just waiting for their Cinderella to walk in and fit them.

Ms. T's Famous Blog Party

I am always so late getting news to you all, but I am on my way to Warrenton / Round Top of the BIG Texas Antique Fair and I wanted to let you know about Ms. T's Famous Blog Party!

First of all, this event is hosted by Theresa of Garden Antqs Vintage. You honestly can't go ANYWHERE here in Texas in the Antique World without people knowing who she is. I would call her the reporter of all things Vintage. She knows everyone and everyone knows her. If you want to know where the best places are to shop or what events are coming up you MUST follow her blog. I owe her much gratitude. She has covered Bloom & Bee Swanky on many postings and I have had many new customers and made new friends due to her wonderful reporting. We were blessed with her presence at last Fall's Open House and I am hoping to entice her to come set up with again sometime in the future.

A Blog Party is a party to bring all of us Bloggers who love old Junk as much as the next together. You never know who you might meet. Unfortunately, I missed the last event and died when I saw this photo. Here she is with Debbie of Curious Sofa and Elizabeth from Elizabeth House -my 2 all time favorite retailers who have been the most influence on Bloom & Bee Swanky. I have had the opportunity to meet with Debbie on a couple of occasions. She was kind enough to even meet with me personally for a couple of hours to talk shop while we were in Round Top. I can't say enough about how kind and generous she is. Before we opened the shop downtown, Bev and I headed all the way to KC just to shop her wonderful store and turned around and drove straight back. I know we are a little crazy, but that is how fabulous she Really IS! We were going to head over to St. Louis to see my other favorite designer Elizabeth, but sadly this was the week she was closing shop to move on to better things (read her blog and you'll learn why). I have never had the pleasure to meet her in person; hopefully one day. However, she did call me on the phone once and I thought I was going to DIE. This is how generous these 3 Super Stars Are. One of the reasons I continue to work so hard during these tough times is the people that you meet. Antiquers are quite honestly the nicest people you will ever come across and I hope you will get a chance to come to the Blog Party to find out for yourself.
